Chandigarh, Jan 11 – (zeeharyana.com/Sunita Sharma) In Haryana, now the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Samajik Samarsta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana can apply for incentive within three years from the date of marriage instated of one year, earlier.
This decision was taken in a review meeting of all District Welfare Officers and Tehsil Welfare Officers held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Mr Krishan Kumar Bedi here today.
Mr Bedi said that the scheme was launched to promote communal harmony and encouraging inter caste marriages. We are going to re-launch the scheme so as to ensure coverage of maximum beneficiaries under the scheme. Under the scheme, a grant of Rs 1.01 lakh was being given to a Scheduled Caste boy or a girl of Haryana who married a non-Scheduled Caste girl or boy.
He also directed the officers to ensure benefit of Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana alongwith a greeting message of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal to all eligible beneficiaries before seven days of marriage. The local MLA of the party or any other public representative should be involved for this purpose. He also directed them to ensure maximum utilization of funds available under centrally sponsored schemes for the benefit of poor people. In addition, all the officers must increase their field visits and popularize the different kinds of schemes meant of benefit of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes people.
Mr Bedi also asked them to find out a room or place in a big village having maximum SC population and Senior Secondary School facility at tehsil level so that students could complete their homework in a better environment. Furniture and other facilities would be provided by the department under Upgradation of Merit of Scheduled Caste Students scheme, he added.
Reviewing the various schemes of the Department, the Minister said that present government is quite sensitive towards poor and is working with the spirit of Antodaya. He also asked them to use information technology in their official working so that benefit of scheme could be given to people without any delay.
Principal Secretary, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department Mr Anil Kumar, Director, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department Mrs Geeta Bharti and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
